Norther Hemisphere Summer Edition According to our policy, we provide, for our northern users, a summer edition. This allows them to plan and observe during that season, which is the one for the holidays in the northern hemisphere. Check the whole of the events and observations available during your summer from that page!

Check What the Planets Will be in 2009!

Above all, don't forget the two last major astronomical events for 2008!

  • the August 1st total solar eclipse over Siberia and north central China, as it's partial for some other parts of the world, and interesting
  • the August 16th partial lunar eclipse, which is seeing in its entirety for central, eastern Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa (the western part of it excepted)

As far as the night sky is concerned:

  • the northerners will have the Summer Triangle, and the center of the Milky Way Galaxy at their disposal
  • at the tropics, the observers will get the Milky way-embedded constellations, the center of the Milky Way Galaxy and other objectes and interesting constellations
  • in the southern hemisphere, that will be the Milky Way-embedded constellations southwest and West, and the Summer Triangle North

And in space?

  • About nothing. Just a spacewalk at the ISS in July
